Podcast.com Announces Top Podcasts of 2007

01.08.08

We announced yesterday the top podcasts of 2007 at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas - one curious fact was that only 2 shows were what I would consider ‘indie’ style podcasts - smaller new media companies or individuals taking advantage of the democratization of media and web 2.0 style publishing tools - this surprised me. Another was established media’s willingness to engage with us and ask for help in how they can broaden the footprint of their programs - very refreshing! Below is part of the release and list:

Treedia Labs, a leading media aggregation and distribution company, announced today its Podcast.com “Top 10 Podcasts of the Year” Award for 2007. Each year, Podcast.com tallies the total number of times a program has been accessed by consumers. In 2007, Podcast.com tracked over one million podcast access connections via the Podcast.com portal. The top 10 Podcasts represent those items that were accessed the most in 2007.

According to Radio Joint Audience Research (RAJAR), a group dedicated to measuring radio audiences in the UK, podcast listening increased 40-percent, to 2.7 million people throughout the UK in 2007.

“As Internet-connected mobile phones become more pervasive, podcast content represents one of the major formats that consumers are adopting as part of their daily media experience,” said Duncan Perry, chief operating officer of Treedia Labs.

This One Time at Podcamp…..

09.04.07

Cool promo idea from the folks at PodCampAZ - Here it is…..

This one time at podcamp…

I know, Labor Day is suppost to be a day off, but I got this bug in my butt to get some promotions moving for PodCamp. So based on the suggestions on the Google Group, I busted out a new promotion. I need your help to make it successful. Here’s how it works:

  • Make a 10 second (or less) video clip that falls in line with the phrase “This one time at PodCamp…” and can be closed up by the phrase “…it could happen”
  • Upload it to the box account at: ThisOneTimeAtPodCamp.com
  • Do it by October 1st

I’m so excited about the promo videos. I can’t wait to see them. Feel free to ask any questions if you have any right here.

Thanks!

Brand.Podcast.com

08.08.07

The subdomain system for brands to build their own customized social multimedia networking podcast site to amplify podcasts is coming along - check out the progress here - demo.podcast.com - The great thing about generic term domain names is that when the subdomain is a brand name, your brand doesn’t get diluted by our domain name!

MOTO Z8 & Podcast.com

05.15.07

In New York City Ed Zander and Motorola rolled out their new line of industry defining mobile phones. The MOTO Z8 is truly a ‘media monster’ - we have been using a pre-release handset and demoing the Podcast.com service. The VC crowd here in Boston liked it very much. And I have to say so did we! Kosso now has it in Old Blighty.

Motorola’s press release is here.

In addition to Podcast.com coming pre-loaded our friends at Mote will include, in-box, a full-length film – “The Bourne Identity” from Universal Pictures - and applications from BSkyB and content from CNN. Also games from Electronic Arts’ will soon become available for download. So we are in good company.

Green.Podcast.com

04.19.07

abamgreen.jpg

The last few days I have been listening to environmental related podcasts and been culling and curating a playlist of the best - This would also help when I launch my own Green program discussing topics with experts in the field - then I thought…..what other firm, brand, program, enitity, university, scientist, or invidual might want to utilize Green.Podcast.com within our Social Media Communications Network?

Back to Posting…..invention continues…..

12.09.06

Things have been moving fast and furious at Podcast.com - The scope, breadth, and focus of the project has evolved from a simple consumer web service to RSS/OPML based feed managment platform and developable data ecosystem….in fact we better rename the company.

Podcast.com Widgets

08.16.06

Notice the cool set of colors over on the right hand side of this blog - it’s a ‘quilt’ of images. They are the images representing a Podcast rss feed which exists within a Listener Account at podcast.com. It’s random. Click the image and it will take you to the Podcast.com page for that podcast feed.

Kosso whipped up this very customizable widget. The docs and scripts are being written so anyone can do it. Really soon anyone can come to Podcast.com and sign up and create their own podcast directory of subscriptions. We have lots of things cooking here! Very cool ways to use that data to feed all sorts of widgets - embed in your blogs - Myspace page - ebay pages - etc, etc.
Things are really starting to hum……..can you hear it
